The 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A (Trans Aм) is a high-performance version of the Dodge Challenger muscle car, produced only for the 1970 model year. The T/A was designed to compete in the Sports Car Racing series American Trans Aм racing. It’s powered by Dodge’s high-performance 340 cubic inch V8 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.

The T/A comes standard with many performance features, including a dual-panel roof, front and rear spoilers, heavy-duty suspension and brakes, and Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. It is considered a highly desirable muscle car because only about 2,399 were produced in total. The T/A Challenger is designed with unique styling including front and rear spoilers, hood, special graphics and decals, frameless grille and “Trans Aм” decals on the fenders. mud. This is the only car equipped with a Mopar 340 engine and is a classic muscle car for collectors and enthusiasts.

How many people were created? Well, Dodge built 2,399 of them to homologate the Trans Am championship car. How many of them are still here? Well, there are no statistics to run, but the example of the cream you are looking at is guaranteed to be the best available.

That’s right, this T/A has never been restored and still has all the original components. And I’m not just talking about internal components like the engine and transmission. This muscle car is a numbers-matching classic from car to car, including body panels.

How did this 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A survive in such poor condition for the past half-century? Credit goes to the current owner, who when he bought it in 1976 treated it as if it were the rarest and most valuable car in existence. Although the original cream paint job shows some signs of age such as chipping and patina, and the dry seat appears worn, this Challenger T/A is in pristine condition with respect to the unpolished finish. maintenance.

Things look good under the hood, where the 290-horsepower 340 cu-inch (5.6-liter) V8 hides. Oh, and because the blender is mated to a manual transmission, this T/A is one of only 989 models sold in this configuration.

Dodge planned to continue offering the T/A version for the 1971 model year, then promote it with ads for the 340 V8 with four-barrel carburetor. However, with the company’s withdrawal from Trans Aм racing after 1970, the T/A was subsequently discontinued.

Therefore, the 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is a rare and sought-after model for only one year among muscle car enthusiasts, especially when compared to its competitors, the Cheʋrolet Camarot Z/28 and Ford Mustang Boss 302.
