Coach Didier Deschamps has announced the list of 25 French players who will compete in the 2024 Euro in Germany from June 15 to July 15. Midfielder N’Golo Kante has surprisingly made the list.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) allows national teams to register 26 players for Euro 2024. However, Coach Didier Deschamps is only using 25 players in order to stabilize the squad early on. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Deschamps also did not add any additional players and kept 25 players after excluding Karim Benzema at the last minute due to injury.
In the list for Euro 2024, midfielder N’Golo Kante is the biggest surprise as he has moved to play for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian league. Kante was a star of the 2018 World Cup, but this year he will find it difficult to compete with talented midfielders like Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, or Adrien Rabiot.
Kinglsey Coman is also on the Euro 2024 squad, although he has been injured and has not played for a month. However, the Bayern Munich star’s chances are not high as France has many attacking stars like Kylian Mbappe, Kolo Muani, and Ousmane Dembele.
At Euro 2024, the French national team is in Group D with Poland, Netherlands, and Austria. At Euro 2020, Coach Didier Deschamps’ team was shockingly eliminated in the round of 16 by Switzerland.
