Paul Pogba: I’m sad, shocked and heartbroken

Paul Pogba has broken his silence after it was previously announced that he would be banned for four years after being found guilty of doping.

Today (February 29), it was announced that 2018 World Cup champion Paul Pogba failed a “Form B” doping test, after failing a previous test. Pogba has now officially been banned from professional football for 4 years.

The 30-year-old star was found to have excess testosterone in his blood and after his entourage failed to prove he didn’t know what he was putting into his body.

In an Instagram post, the French midfielder said: “Today I was informed of the decision of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping and believe that the judgment is incorrect.”

“I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional career has been taken away from me.”

“When I am not legally restricted, the whole story becomes clear, but I have never knowingly or intentionally used any supplements in violation of anti-doping regulations. “

“As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or deceived fellow athletes and fans of any team I have ever played for or against.”

“As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

A graduate of the Manchester United academy, Pogba played seven seasons at Old Trafford in two spells. He made 238 appearances, scored 39 goals and contributed 51 assists for the club. He also had 2 periods with Juventus, appearing 190 times, scoring 34 goals and having 41 assists.

The star born in 1993 was also an important part of France’s success at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, scoring in the final against Croatia.

His current contract with Juventus runs until 2026. However, it is very likely that the midfielder will never play for the Italian giants again.
