Al Ittihad, the team that won the SPL last season, is in decline and is no longer a worthy opponent of Al Nassr. At home, the defending runner-up team poured 4 goals into the opponent’s net, in which Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice. The remaining 2 goals belonged to Abdulrahman Ghareeb and Al Nemer respectively.
The left-footed shot against Al Ittihad in the 45+3 minute and the header that beat the goalkeeper in the 69th minute helped Ronaldo go down in history as the greatest goalscorer in the Saudi Pro League. With 35 goals, CR7 broke the record of Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah (34 goals) in the 2018/19 season.
In addition, CR7 also created another record, becoming the first player in history to win top scorer in 4 different national championships (England, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia).
In the 2007/08 season, Ronaldo won top scorer for the first time, scoring 31 goals for Manchester United. During the 9 years Ronaldo played for Real Madrid, fans witnessed the Portuguese superstar win “Pichichi” – La Liga top scorer three times.
After that, Ronaldo continued to impress by winning top scorer in Serie A with 29 goals after 33 appearances for Juventus and now the award in the Saudi Arabia National Championship.
Since turning 39, Ronaldo has achieved impressive scoring performance with 20 goals and 2 assists in just 20 appearances. The former MU star scored 50 goals for Al Nassr this season.
With this form, CR7 will almost certainly be given the opportunity by coach Roberto Martinez to lead the Portuguese attack at the EURO 2024 finals.
In front of Ronaldo and his teammates will be the King’s Cup final against Al Hilal on June 1. This is an opportunity for CR7 to win the first official title in the Middle East. “Hopefully the match will be fair”, the 39-year-old striker said.
