The first training session of the Portuguese national team in Germany attracted more than 10,000 spectators to the stadium and Ronaldo was the focus.
Crazy fans continuously flooded the field looking for a chance to hug Ronaldo
EURO 2024 is probably the last official tournament Cristiano Ronaldo plays for Portugal. Therefore, the appearance of the 39-year-old superstar in Germany is creating a “fever”. Right from the moment they got off the plane, CR7 and his teammates received a warm welcome.
Ronaldo’s practice attracted more than 10,000 fans to watch live
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be the center of attention in the first training session of the Portuguese national team. The training place of coach Martinez and his team, Gutersloh town’s stadium, was filled to capacity. According to Portuguese newspaper Abola, up to 8,210 fans showed up just to watch CR7 and his teammates warm up.
If we include the number of people outside the stadium, the number must exceed 10,000 people. This is really an impressive number for a normal training session because even some official matches in Europe’s top national leagues do not attract such a large number of fans.
Ronaldo was hugged by crazy fans right on the practice field
Compared to stadiums that host official matches, this training ground is much more accessible. This action made the security staff at the yard quite miserable as they constantly had to chase around the yard. One lucky guy was able to hug Ronaldo before security staff caught him.
Although they understood the enthusiasm of the fans, the Portuguese players were also a bit uncomfortable when the training session was constantly interrupted. When Ronaldo and his teammates walked around the field to say goodbye to the fans, the security staff had to work hard to chase away the enthusiastic fans.
According to some sources, the “black market” ticket price to watch Ronaldo practice is up to 800 euros (equivalent to about 22 million VND). However, the Portuguese team and local authorities prevented this incident by distributing tickets right at the stadium door.
