Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo is aiming to make 45 more appearances for Portυgal before his teammate retires according to Roberto Martinez map
Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have hinted he is taking a break from his Portuguese career, according to team boss Roberto Martinez.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner owes a debt to his teammate two decades ago and is still part of Portυgal’s collection, but at 38 years old, many fans and others alike are catching on. The beginning achieves if the end of the road is what suits Ronaldo when it comes to international football.
Those demands will be recounted by Martinez in an interview with Arsenal legend Freddie Ljυngberg, where the coach seemed to suggest that Ronaldo should finish the day with Portυgal after making 250 appearances.
“He has reached almost 200 caps for the team, which no other player has achieved before. Of course, our conversation was private, but I can reveal what he told me. [I asked him] If he achieved 200 caps he would be more interested and he told me: ‘250 caps for me'”, Martiпez confessed.
As the Portuguese boss explained, Ronaldo became the first male player to reach 200 caps for the team earlier this year. However, that clearly does not satisfy the former Real Madrid superstar and it seems that his goal is to represent his team at the 2026 World Cup.
Currently, Ronaldo has 205 appearances for Portgal. To add another 45 minutes to the list, the former England ace will most likely have to appear at the 2026 World Cup tournament in the US, Capada and Mexico, when he will be 41 years old.

There are a lot of people out there who will feel like Ronaldo is past his prime, but the statistics don’t completely agree. The former England captain is likely to arrive in 2023 as the world’s top male goalscorer with 53 goals for clubs and teams.
There is also Ronaldo’s intense drive and desire for acceptance. With such a terrible career with so many individual and team titles, the World Cup is still the only silver trophy that still cannot be lifted by the scoring machine.
The same goes for Ronaldo’s longtime Ballon d’Or rival, Lionel Messi, who won the sport’s biggest honor this time last year. That would certainly be a threat to the Portυgal captain’s side and something he will do everything in his power to deal with.
