Dani Alves was released on bail on March 25 after paying a guarantee of one million euros. One day later, the former Barca star held a lavish party with friends and family at a villa worth 4.5 million pounds in Esplugues de Llobregat, Spain. This is the house Alves and his ex-wife Joana Sanz own together. According to Spanish media, this party to celebrate the birthday of Mr. Domingos Alves Da Silva – Dani Alves’ father, lasted until 5am.
Before that, the 40-year-old former football player appeared with a cold expression as he walked through the villa door on the day he was released from prison. In the evening, Alves’ butler came to the door to receive the hamburger he had ordered for dinner. A bouquet of flowers was delivered to Alves’ villa immediately after his return. This sparked rumors that it was a gift from Alves to his ex-wife Joana Sanz. Sanz has yet to update Instagram after reactivating his account a few days before Alves was released on bail.
Alves was convicted of raping a woman at a nightclub in December 2022 and sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison. In addition, the former Barca defender was placed under legal supervision for an additional 5 years and banned from contact with the victim for 9 years and 6 months.
On March 20, the Spanish Court of Appeals granted Alves’ request for bail pending sentencing when he paid a bail of one million euros. Alves currently has his passport confiscated, must report to the police weekly, and is prohibited from contacting or going near the victim.

According to the victim’s complaint, Alves forced her to have sex in a private bathroom in a nightclub despite begging him to let her go. The Brazilian star’s lawyers argued that the victim had “glued his eyes” to the former Barca player while dancing at a nightclub, saying there was “sexual tension” between them. However, the court held that this did not mean “she consented to anything that might happen afterwards”.
Alves had to find it very difficult to manage his bail money because his assets in Brazil were frozen because he was involved in a lawsuit with his ex-wife Dinorah Santana. When there was news that Alves was released on bail, many sources in Spain said that Neymar’s father helped his countrymen pay bail money. However, later, the Brazilian striker’s father denied this information. Some newspapers speculate that a group of former teammates may have contributed money to help Dani Alves collect one million euros.
