Man United’s board of directors decided not to fire coach Erik Ten Hag after various speculations about the Dutch strategist’s future.
Manchester Eveningnews reported that Man United will retain the position of coach Erik Ten Hag. This decision was made after Man United’s board of directors re-evaluated the team’s performance results last season.
According to BBC, the decision to keep coach Erik Ten Hag of Man United’s board of directors seems to have been influenced by the “red devils” 2-1 victory over Man City in the FA Cup final.
The British press added that another important reason why Man United wants to continue working with coach Ten Hag is because the “red devils” have not found another more suitable coach.
The candidate that Man United is most interested in is German strategist Thomas Tuchel. However, Mr. Tuchel is not yet ready to sit in the hot seat at Old Trafford. Also according to Manchester Eveningnews, Man United’s board of directors may extend the 3-year contract with coach Erik Ten Hag.
The 2023-2024 season has just ended, Man United ranked 8th in the English Premier League, the lowest ever. The “Red Devils” were also eliminated early in the Confederation Cup and Champions League. However, Man United won the FA Cup championship.
Throughout the season, coach Erik Ten Hag complained about Man United suffering so many injuries that he could not have the squad he wanted. The Dutch strategist compared his job as coach of Man United to “a swimmer with his hands tied”.
