On Wednesday evening, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr took on Al Khaleej in the semi-final of the King’s Cup at the Al Awwal Stadium.
With 16 minutes on the clock, Ronaldo was presented with the ball just inside the penalty area after a mistake by Al Khaleej goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic.
With his back to goal, Ronaldo unleashed a brilliant left-footed volley which flew into the back of the net.

Ronaldo has been in fine form in the 23/24 season, having scored 37 goals and assisted 12 in 39 appearances across all competitions.
However, despite the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s form, Al Nassr have struggled to overtake Al Hilal, who are currently top of the Saudi Professional League on 80 points, nine points ahead of Ronaldo’s team.
Over the weekend, Ronaldo came under a little bit of pressure after missing a few big chances during their nervy 1-0 league win over Al Khaleej.
However, speaking after the match, Al Nassr boss Vitor Severino was not too concerned.

Former Spurs winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou opened the scoring for Damac but hosts Al Nassr came out fighting in the second half, with Brazilian forward Talisca netting to make it 1-1.
Ronaldo then stepped up to score one of his best goals of the season.
So why does he stand over his free-kicks, feet wide apart and slightly positioned to the side? Before the run-up, the former Real Madrid forward lets out a deep sigh before his shoulders go up and down.
Former Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan revealed back in 2018 why Ronaldo does his trademark stance before free-kicks.
\”People used to put the ball down, walk away, run up and hit it. He brought in a more dynamic showmanship,\” explained Phelan.
\”He places the ball down, the concentration level is high, he takes his certain amount of steps back so that his standing foot is in the perfect place to hit the ball in the sweet spot.
\”When he pulls those shorts up and shows his thighs, he is saying ‘All eyes on me’ and this is going in. He understands the marketing side of it. The way he struts up and places it; the world is watching him.\”
In other news, Cristiano Ronaldo has informed Al Nassr and Portugal of his retirement plans, it has been claimed.
According to Spanish publication Cadena COPE Ronaldo has told Al Nassr that he would like to sign a contract extension through to 2027, when he will be in his early 40’s.
That deal would allow him to figure for his country at another World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
Ronaldo had previously indicated that he would retire from international football after next summer’s European Championship. He has already earned 201 caps for Portugal, claiming 123 goals in that time.

Anderson Talisca and Sadio Mane were also on target but just when the game looked dead and buried, the visitors hit back with goals from Ismail Mohomad and Almoez Ali.
However, Ronaldo was on target in the 81st minute to make it 4-2 with another incredible finish.
It was again on his left foot, with Ronaldo conjuring up a sensational first-time volley when the ball was clipped over for him to run onto.
Al Duhail striker Michael Olunga made the finale interesting by cutting the deficit to one in the 85th minute.
Ronaldo’s insane double follows up a breathtaking free-kick against Damac on Saturday.
The Riyadh-based outfit came from a goal down to win at King Saud University Stadium, with Ronaldo bagging an unstoppable set-piece winner.
He now has 43 goals in 45 games for club and country in 2023 and is clearly not nearing retirement despite not getting any younger.
Next up for Al Nassr is a Saudi Pro League clash with Al Feiha on Saturday, with Ronaldo set to be in attendance for Tyson Fury’s fight with Francis Ngannou later that evening.
