Anthony Gordon has revealed what Kobbie Mainoo and other newly-capped England players have been saying ahead of Euro 2024.
England will head into this summer’s tournament as one of the favourites to win, with Gareth Southgate’s squad packed full of world-class talent.
Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Phil Foden are all in contention for the Ballon d’Or after excellent individual campaigns, with the Real Madrid man currently favourite to win the award.

Such is the quality of England’s squad, a number of top English players in the Premier League players could miss out.
Gordon is one such player who isn’t guaranteed a spot on the plane to Germany, despite an impressive individual season.
The winger has scored 11 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions for Newcastle in his first full campaign at St James’ Park.

Gordon received his first senior call up for England in March for their friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, making his debut for the Three Lions in their 1-0 defeat to the South Americans at Wembley.
The former Everton man was surprised by just how positive and relaxed the mood is in the England camp under Southgate.
“The culture of the England squad was the most surprising aspect for me. I knew I would do well on the pitch, but off the pitch I was nervous like you would expect by going to meet a bunch of new people. I thought it was going to be awkward but honestly, it wasn’t at all,” Gordon told The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet.

“The culture they’ve managed to create with all the staff, is so impressive and the three newbies in Kobbie Mainoo, Jarrad Branthwaite and myself, all said the same thing.

“We all said how lovely the players and the staff were. The staff go out their way to make you feel like you’ve been there for a long time and that helped me in the camp.”
Gordon’s chances of making England’s squad were given a boost on Monday, after UEFA delegates voted to increase Euro 2024 squad sizes from 23 to 26 players.
He will have a final chance to impress Southgate when England face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland in friendlies in June, ahead of their opening match of Euro 2024 against Serbia on June 16.
