‘I want to return to the coaching bench’ – Zinedine Zidane says he is ready to manage again amid rumors he could take over Bayern Munich.
Zinedine Zidane has hinted at a return to coaching amid links to the soon-to-be vacant position at Bayern Munich.
Zidane attended a screening of a documentary about former Italy and Juventus coach Marcello Lippi and discussed his own future. The French coach has been closely linked with the Bavarians after they announced they would part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the 2023/24 season.
During the launch, Zidane praised Lippi via Gianluca di Marzio: “He is my coach, above all he brought me to Juventus. He was the first person to believe in me and make me play , because in the end things weren’t easy for me”
“I come from the experience in France, it was a bit difficult for me to prepare, but in the end he made me play. So for me, it’s not just the coach but also what made me who I am”.
When asked if he would return to coaching, Zidane said: “Why not, anything can happen. Now I’m doing other things, but we’ll see – I definitely want to return to the coaching bench”.
The 51-year-old strategist has been absent since leaving Real Madrid in 2021 and his return has been the subject of media attention since then.
The French coach has won 11 titles with the team that won the Champions League 13 times, after two periods leading Los Blancos from 2016 to 2021.
It remains to be seen whether the Real Madrid legend will decide to return to action at the end of the season. If he decides to return, it seems that Bayern Munich will be a bright candidate to get the French strategist, besides Liverpool – the team also has a vacant captain position after Jurgen Klopp’s decision to part ways.
