Fiat Panda is cut in half to create the world’s lowest car, the driver can still steer and drive it like an ordinary vehicle

The Fiat Panda is a charmingly small car that can be found in countless garages across the world. But a group of Italian YouTubers set their sights on making it even smaller in a bizarre plan to create the world’s lowest car.

Meet the world’s lowest car

The so-called ‘Carmagheddon’ group has unveiled impressive footage of their attempt to transform a Fiat Panda into something far closer to the ground.

Sliced just below its windows, the vehicle’s bottom half was switched out for a go-kart, elevated by just four small wheels. Just like any other car, it seamlessly moves across the roads when put to the test on gravel, making crowds gather in disbelief.

Video: Fiat Panda transformed into lowest car by ‘Carmagheddon’

‘Hello beasts,’ Carmagheddon captioned its latest video. What happens if you walk down the street with the world’s shortest panda? We’re about to find out.’

Perhaps expectedly, the car does appear to run a bit slower than a typical Fiat Panda, thanks to the removal of its engine. But a driver can steer and propel the car forward like any other using the wheels and pedals of the go-kart lodged inside.

To do so, a person is required to crawl through the back window and lie on their back to get into a driving position. While this has been dubbed the ‘world’s lowest car’, it is not clear how tall the sliced Fiat Panda really is.

The latest Guinness World Records suggest this title was claimed by Mirai – measuring 17.79 in (55.2 cm) from the ground to its highest part.

This vehicle was put together by students and teachers at Okayama Sanyo High School in Asakuchi, Japan. It ran on six main batteries and its driving unit was sourced from the Q-car produced by the Japanese CQ motors.

Viral footage of the sliced Fiat Panda has baffled thousands of watchers who can’t believe that it’s a functioning vehicle – albeit an illegal one on roads in the UK.

‘It seems like seeing an ultra realistic car game, but with the glitched car in the street,’ one person said.

‘Sell it to Hollywood! As a stunt machine for films in which reality/time is manipulated it is perfect!’ another said.

Meanwhile, one joked: ‘ABSURD!! We want the next one upside down.’

The Fiat Panda is by no means the first wacky project of Carmagheddon’s, with several creations shared on their YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Carmagheddon and Instagram channels.

A cyclable bathtub and a giant exhaust on the back of a Mitsubishi Colt are among the countless crazy projects they have been a part of.
