Genesis has promised something special for the third concept in its “X” series of show cars, and the emerging luxury brand has managed to deliver in abundance with the launch of the Genesis X concept Convertible in LA.
The X Convertible is the convertible version of the Speedium we never knew we wanted
At first glance, the X convertible looks like the Speedium concept, but unlike the coupe, cutting out the roof allowed designers to go further with the design. The front still has a smaller grille with lighting details that wrap from fender to fender and are unified with the shield-shaped lighting system in the center. The wraparound styling continues inside, with the cockpit giving a driver-centric feel and leather accents on the door panels drawing you in to see the rest of the cabin, including the steering wheel. Sports and fully digital instrumentation. The rear styling is perhaps the most production-focused detail here, with taillights that remind us of the GV80 SUV. Our favorite feature is the interior color called Giwa Grey. Genesis claims this color is similar to Korean roof tiles and it certainly looks great in the X version.
It’s unknown what (if anything) powers this concept, but if it has a fully functioning electric powertrain, consider the Kia EV6 GT’s 576 horsepower to be the key ingredient. hide. hidden in this beautiful piece of cake. While some may scoff at its Kia roots, the horsepower on hand is more than enough to give this convertible some spice to match its seductive looks.
When can I buy one?
While we’ve seen some wild concepts make it to production from time to time, this car remains a pure show car. Genesis representatives have previously stated that while the future will indeed be an all-electric vehicle, the SUV line is purely serving as the cog that powers this future. Even so, look for some of the core styling elements from the X to carry over to these future models, especially the exterior styling, along with some digital touches on the dashboard. and infotainment system.
