At first, Ronaldo did not recognize Dong Fangzhuo but then appeared very happy and actively shook hands with his former teammate. The two former MU players had a few minutes to greet and chat with each other.
Former Chinese player Dong Fangzhuo is Ronaldo’s friend. He joined Manchester United in 2004 from Dalian Shide and became the club’s first and only Chinese player.
However, it was not until 2007 that he made his MU debut because he had to wait for a work permit in the UK. Dong Fangzhuo’s career actually did not have many highlights as he only made 3 appearances in 4 years on the club’s staff.
In 2008, Dong Fangzhuo officially said goodbye to MU to return to Dalian Shide. A year later, his same-age teammate Ronaldo also left to join Real Madrid.
